What Do Employees Want in a Health Benefit Plan?

No surprise here, but research shows that one of the top things that your employees want from their benefits plan is comprehensive healthcare. They want one that will support them – and their families.

Employee Benefit Management Services conducted an audit of various benefits surveys and found that the majority of employees (73%) also want the option to customize their benefits plan. They wish to have the ability to tailor their benefit package to suit their needs, versus a one-size-fits-all approach. It makes sense, doesn’t it? If you had the option to select elements such as a nutrition program, a fitness program, or selections based on age or a pre-existing condition – that would appeal, wouldn’t it?

What can you do as a company, HR manager or broker to help meet this employee need?

Customize Benefits to Meet Employee Need: Offer Nutrition Programming

Consider various add-ons to your benefits package that you can offer your employees, such as a nutrition program. A recent Food & Health Survey found that consumers rely on nutrition information that they don’t trust and that 80% find conflicting information about which foods to avoid and which to eat. They’re confused. They’re “hungry” for evidence-based nutrition information.

You can help clear up this confusion and help set them up for health and wellness success by meeting employees’ needs for nutrition programming at the workplace.

My program, 12 Fixes to Healthy, takes your employees on a health and wellness journey one sustainable step at a time. The dietitian-led, evidence-based program helps improve health, strengthen immune defenses, protect and build muscle, stabilize blood sugar levels, improve cholesterol and blood pressure, reset gut health, improve focus and productivity, help slow down cognitive decline and help employees feel better overall.

Upon completion of the program, 98% of participants surveyed said they would continue using the 12 Fixes in their day to day. Ninety-two percent said they felt better overall, and a whopping 65% experienced improved health markers (ex. LDL, HDL, A1C, blood pressure).

Now is the time to provide employees with customizable benefits packages that meet their needs. Set them up for sustainable, long-term health and wellness. Let’s team up to invest in their wellbeing and encourage them to make small, sustainable changes to their health. Contact me – let’s get started on addressing your employees’ interest in nutrition programming that will set them up for health and wellness success.
