Homemade Applesauce

Have you eaten warm homemade applesauce?

I made applesauce to celebrate National Apple Day today! 🍎

So easy and so good! It doesn’t taste anything like store bought applesauce. I mean, it’s a whole other level of applesauce compared to the store bought stuff. So don’t even compare the two.

Applesauce is super healthy and easy to make, especially if you do it my way on both accounts.

So what’s different with my applesauce? I keep the nutritious skins on the apples! But you won’t ever know because I use a hand-held blender real quick to blend the apple skins in after the apples have finish cooking.

I don’t add sugar either, but it’s still very sweet! I do add cinnamon and eat it warm after making it. Everyone loves it! 😋

You can make this applesauce in a slow cooker or Instant Pot too. Just blend the apple skins in after apples are cooked.

Eat your apples! 🍏 They are full of thousands of plant nutrients that improve your gut health and strengthen your immune defenses, along with a lot more health perks!

Ingredients

  • 5 pound bag of any kind of organic apples
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Use an apple cutter to quickly cut and core a 5 pound bag of any kind of organic apples. Older apples work well too. Swipe to see.
  2. Add cut apples to a large pot.
  3. Add 1/4 cup water (or apple cider or OJ, but I almost always use water)
  4. Put heat on high to get apples going for a couple of minutes before covering and setting heat on low.
  5. Stir a few times while cooking but in about 45 minutes the apples should be soft.
  6. Cool for a few minutes and use a hand-held blender to blend apples until there are no apple skins. This step takes just a few minutes.
  7. Add cinnamon as desired and enjoy warm. Refrigerator the remaining applesauce for up to 4 days.
